![]() ![]() I also feel like they don’t accurately portray just how deeply he loves Dessa. (This is NOT a criticism of Mark Ruffalo, he kills the roll, just the format). He’s really aggressive and combative with people who don’t deserve it (like Joy) and even though we know he’s justified, I don’t feel like it portrays the character super well. Dom also comes off kind of like a dickhead too, even though he’s obviously going through some shit. I just got a different overall tone from the book, more hopeful. It’s well done, but kind of comes off a little like misery porn IMO. However, they portray all of the depression and misfortune from the book in, but leave out most of the levity and brighter moments. Obviously they can’t cram everything from a ~900 page book into a six hour show, but they do a pretty good job of it. Ill say this: it captures what it captures well. ![]()
